One of the questions we hear most from families is, “What does my child actually do all day?” It is a great question, so here is a look inside a typical day at BHA.
Morning: Arrival and breakfast
Our doors open at 6:00 AM. Teachers greet each child by name, help them settle in, and make the goodbye as gentle as possible. Breakfast is served each morning through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and every meal is included in tuition. BHA is also an egg and nut free facility, so families can feel at ease about mealtimes.
Circle time and feelings check-in
Every classroom begins its learning day with connection. Through our Known & Growing curriculum, children gather for a morning circle, name how they are feeling, and talk about our character trait of the month. It is a small routine that makes a big difference. Children learn that their feelings matter and that they belong.
Learning centers and outdoor play
Mid-morning is for hands-on learning: letters and sounds, art, building, music, sensory play, and stories. Children also head outside every day for active play. Our infants enjoy stroller walks on our walking path, and every classroom gets fresh air and time to move.
Lunch, nap, and afternoon snack
After lunch, children rest. Infants follow their own sleep schedules, and older children nap on their cots. Children who wake early enjoy quiet activities like books and puzzles. An afternoon snack follows, then more play and learning until pickup.
Staying connected all day
Throughout the day, families receive updates and photos through the Brightwheel app, so you can see your child’s day even while you are at work. Our classrooms and outdoor areas also have cameras recording at all times, an extra layer of safety and accountability for every child.
Fridays are portfolio days
Each Friday, children bring home a portfolio of their work from the week. It is a wonderful way to see your child’s growth and to start a conversation at home: “Tell me about this one!”
