Enrollment and Getting Started

What ages do you serve?

+
Benevolent House Academy serves children ages 6 weeks through 13 years. Our programs include nursery (6 weeks to 11 months), young toddlers (12 to 17 months), toddlers (18 to 35 months), preschool (3 year olds), pre-K (4 year olds), and school-age (kindergarten through 5th grade, with children up to age 13 welcome during summer and school break programs). Visit our Programs page to learn more about each age group.

How do I enroll my child?

+
Start by submitting an inquiry through our online enrollment form or by calling us at (469) 807-1221. We respond to every inquiry within 24 hours. From there, we will schedule a time to discuss your family's needs, walk you through the enrollment paperwork, and reserve your child's spot.

Is there a waitlist?

+
Classroom space is limited and enrollment is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If your preferred classroom is full, we will add your child to our waitlist and notify you as soon as a spot opens. We recommend reaching out as early as possible to secure your spot.

What fees are due at enrollment?

+
At the time of enrollment, families pay a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $75 per child and an annual supply and activity fee of $100 per child. The supply fee is prorated for families enrolling after September 1st and is due in full each September 1st thereafter. The first week of tuition is also due at enrollment.

Hours and Scheduling

What are your hours of operation?

+
BHA is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Daytime care runs from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Night care runs from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. We are closed on 11 holidays each year: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve.

What is your drop-off and pickup policy?

+
Morning drop-off must occur by 9:00 AM. Children will not be accepted after 9:00 AM without a doctor's note or prior written approval from the director. This policy ensures classroom routines are not disrupted and that all children receive the full benefit of the day's activities and meals.

At pickup, children will only be released to individuals listed on the authorized pickup form. A valid photo ID is required. If someone not on the list needs to pick up your child, you must contact the center in advance to provide authorization.

What happens if I am late picking up my child?

+
A late pickup fee of $1.00 per minute applies after your scheduled pickup time. This fee is due at the time of pickup or added to your next tuition payment. Consistent late pickups may result in a review of your enrollment.

What happens during inclement weather or emergencies?

+
In the event of severe weather or an emergency requiring closure, families will be notified as soon as possible through our parent communication app, email, and phone. BHA follows the guidance of local emergency management officials when making closure decisions. Tuition is still due during emergency closure periods, as your payment reserves your child's enrollment spot.

Tuition and Payments

How much is tuition?

+
Tuition varies by age group and schedule. Full-time (5-day) weekly rates range from $185 for preschool and pre-K to $265 for infants. Part-time options (3-day and 2-day) and night care rates are also available. School-age before/after school care starts at $115 per week. Visit our enrollment page for a complete fee schedule, or contact us for a personalized quote based on your family's needs.

When is tuition due?

+
Tuition is due each Friday in advance of the following week of care. For example, Friday's payment covers the upcoming Monday through Sunday. Autopay is required for all families and is set up during the enrollment process, so you never have to worry about missing a payment.

How do I pay tuition?

+
Autopay is required for all enrolled families. Tuition is automatically processed each Friday in advance of the following week of care. This ensures payments are always on time, eliminates late fees, and gives you one less thing to manage during a busy week. Autopay setup is completed as part of the enrollment process.

What happens if tuition is late?

+
A $25 late tuition payment fee applies to any payment not received by Friday. A $35 failed payment fee applies to any autopay transaction that is declined or returned (for example, due to insufficient funds or an expired card). Consistent late payments may result in a review of your child's enrollment. We understand life happens, and we encourage families to communicate with us if they are facing a temporary hardship.

Do you accept child care subsidies?

+
Yes. Benevolent House Academy accepts Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Child Care Services subsidies. Families receiving subsidized funding must pay any required co-payment by the first of each week. Contact us if you have questions about subsidy eligibility or need help navigating the application process.

Are there any discounts available?

+
Yes. BHA offers the following discounts (one per family, cannot be combined):

Sibling Discount: 10% off weekly tuition for each additional child (the child with the highest rate pays full price)
Military Discount: $10 off weekly tuition per child (valid military ID required)
First Responder Discount: $10 off weekly tuition per child (valid department ID required)
Teacher/Educator Discount: $10 off weekly tuition per child (valid school district ID or pay stub required)

Verification documents must be provided at enrollment and updated annually on or before September 1st.

Is tuition reduced when my child is absent, sick, or on holiday weeks?

+
No. Tuition is due in full each week regardless of attendance. No reductions are given for sick days, vacation, weather closures, holidays, or other absences. Your weekly tuition payment reserves your child's enrollment spot and ensures staffing and resources are maintained.

What is your withdrawal policy?

+
A two-week written notice is required for withdrawal. Tuition is due in full through the final two weeks regardless of whether your child attends. This policy allows us to plan staffing and offer the spot to families on our waitlist.

Meals and Supplies

What meals are provided?

+
BHA participates in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). All children enrolled in full-time care receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack at no additional charge. Meals are nutritious, balanced, and prepared on-site.

Do I need to bring diapers, formula, or supplies?

+
No. Tuition for infant and toddler classrooms includes diapers, wipes, and infant formula at no additional charge. BHA provides standard brand items. If your family prefers a specific brand or your child requires a hypoallergenic or specialty product due to medical needs, you are welcome to provide those items yourself, though it is not required. All parent-provided items must be labeled with the child's name. Tuition is not adjusted for parent-supplied items.

What if my child has food allergies or dietary needs?

+
Please inform us of all allergies, dietary restrictions, and medical needs during enrollment. Our weekly menu is posted in advance so you always know what is being served. If your child has a food allergy or dietary restriction that prevents them from eating what is on the menu, the parent is responsible for providing an appropriate meal or snack for that day. All parent-provided food must be labeled with the child's name and date. A written allergy or dietary plan will be kept in your child's file, and all classroom and kitchen staff will be informed. For severe or life-threatening allergies, a physician's action plan is required on file.

Health and Safety

What is your sick policy?

+
Children who are ill must be kept home. If a child becomes sick during the day, parents will be contacted immediately and are expected to pick up their child within one hour. BHA follows the Texas Department of State Health Services Communicable Disease Chart for exclusion and readmission guidelines. Children must be symptom-free (without fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours before returning to the center. A doctor's note may be required for readmission depending on the illness.

What if my child needs medication administered during the day?

+
Medication is administered only with written parental authorization and only as directed on the label or by a physician's written instructions. Parents must complete a medication authorization form. All medications must be in the original labeled container with the child's name. A medication administration log is maintained for every dose given.

How do you keep children safe?

+
Safety is our highest priority. BHA maintains strict supervision at all times with age-appropriate caregiver-to-child ratios. All staff undergo thorough background checks before hire. Our facility has controlled access entry, and children are only released to authorized individuals with photo ID. We conduct regular emergency drills (fire, severe weather, lockdown) and maintain current first aid and CPR certifications for all caregivers. Our facility is licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

Curriculum and Programs

What curriculum do you use?

+
BHA uses Learning Beyond Paper, a research-based curriculum aligned with Texas early learning standards for children from infants through Pre-K 4. Every day, children engage in hands-on, play-based activities that integrate STEAM, early literacy through the Science of Reading, physical development, and social-emotional learning. Our school-age program uses an enrichment-based approach focused on homework support, STEAM projects, character development, and physical activity.

What is the school-age program?

+
Our school-age program serves children in kindergarten through 5th grade (up to age 13 during summer and school breaks). We offer before and after school care with homework help, enrichment activities, and outdoor play. Full-time care is also available for families who homeschool or have chosen an alternative to traditional school enrollment. During summer and school breaks, we offer full-day enrichment programs with themed weekly activities, STEAM projects, and field trips. Visit our Programs page for details.

What do children do during the day?

+
Every day at BHA is filled with purposeful activity. Children participate in age-appropriate activities including circle time, storytime, art, music, outdoor play, sensory exploration, STEAM activities, and free play. Each classroom follows a structured daily schedule that balances active and quiet time, group and individual activities, and caregiver-guided and child-initiated learning. Our daily social-emotional check-ins and monthly character development focus make BHA a place where children grow as whole people, not just students.

What makes BHA different from other childcare centers?

+
BHA was founded by a family whose personal experience with foster care and adoption shaped everything about how we care for children. Three things set us apart:

Character Development: Each month, our center focuses on a character trait like kindness, courage, patience, or respect, woven into classroom activities and recognition.
Social-Emotional Check-Ins: Every day begins with connection through feelings boards, calm-down corners, and relationship-building circles.
Family Connection: We honor every kind of family. Our practices are designed to reflect and respect the diverse family structures of the children we serve.

Combined with 24-hour availability, meals and supplies included in tuition, and a research-based curriculum, BHA is childcare built for real families. Learn more about our story.
